Eat,drink and be merry.Trrow we may die !

Eat drink and die happily... seems to be the motto of the 'eating legend' Rappayi who was also called as theetta rappayi..Theetta in malayalam ( my mother toungue) is 'eating' and Rappayi literally lived up to the title which he ate and ate to earn and live worthy of it until he passed away last day out of acute diabetes and associated problems.....

Rappayi (Seen here in the left with another miracle-Hira Ratan Manek, who has reportedly survived on liquid nourishment and sunlight up to 420 days ) tales are as popular as fables of oesop and the likes....He was picturised as a monster...someone whoes apetite could never be satiated and hence demonic ......Once he had a tryst with a hotelier who had an- all -you can eat menu where Rappayi gulped with ease, three buckets full of rice, one bucket of fish curry and 10 kg cooked meat -- in no time. Finally, law-enforcers had to be called in to end his sumptuous feast and the hotelier has stopped the buffet menu ever since.A regular at eating competitions, he ate 700 idilis in one sitting in Kasargod and gobbled up 10 kg halwa in 10 minutes in Thalasserry, records are aplenty. His story attracted global media attention and some international magazines covered his story.Another one says that he had three buckets of payasam after having gulped about 400 idilis...and as if it was not enough another one legend says that he had 9 jackfruits once and at the end of it asked whether the seeds could be fried in cocunut oil...

Kizhakkumpattukara Painadan Veettil Rappayi alias 'Theetta Rappayi' who made Guinness record by eating is no more now, but probably the hypothalamus malfunction which made him almost a legend should be talked about rather than the man who made hoteliers in his town run for cover...

Until then we shall remain confused...
